In this post I’m sharing a success story with you. When you read it I invite you to read it as if it is about you. How does this apply to you? Where are you not celebrating successes or where are you listening to the narratives of the mind, rather than looking at the undeniable facts?
What are the narratives of your mind telling you?
Today I’ve had another reminder of how the narratives of the mind have kept me small for so long.
Yesterday I had a catch up call with a fellow coach, Angi Scott, whose Wealth Creation course I did last year, and am doing again this year.
In the last round of the course I was inspired to create a little programme called The Money Game. Many of you will recall this and many of you showed an interest in playing it next time I run it.
The idea was that I gave every participant £10 to play with to see if they could grow it into something more. It sounded like a crazy idea for a wealth creation course (giving money away) but I felt excited by it!
The invitation was that participants keep all the money they made; they returned the £10 investment I made, or they give me a percentage of the profit as payment towards the next game.
We had 6 weeks of fun. I sold one of the kids bikes that they had grown out of along with a beautiful old mirror. I also created a Wealth Creation Mastermind and a Creative Space Retreat and started to sign people up to those. Others’ made and sold greetings cards, cut back on coffee shop coffees or teas, sold unwanted items and sold/created events and programmes.
When Angi asked me how much income I received for running the programme I realised that I didn’t actually know. I had a rough idea which is what I told her (my guess was £250).
Something that I notice is that I fear really looking at money in, and money out. I know it makes sense intellectually, yet I notice that I still don’t do it. There are still beliefs lurking in the depths of my mind that prevent me doing this obvious activity.
What are the facts?
Anyway, this conversation made me review what the results actually were.
And I discovered to my amazement that, through following a fun-sounding idea, I had taken £583.47, a 629% return on my initial investment of £80!
Not only that, but I had created an additional £950 in the various activities and creations I acted on during our 6 weeks together. And, this is not including the future payments that I will receive for these ideas since in part this latter figure only includes deposits paid for attending the programme and retreat.
MIND BLOWN!
What cannot be denied?
This shows me several things that cannot be denied, whatever my mind says!
Firstly – I can create money easily. This has absolutely NOT been my belief which has always been that I cannot create money easily; that creating money is hard.
Secondly – that I am a powerful creator. This goes against the narrative that says “I’m not good enough”.
Clearly this just isn’t true and looking at these results I can see that in black and white.
Yet notice how I don’t look? Which makes sense with a lifetime narrative of “I’m not good enough.”
Thirdly – you can’t out-give the universe! What you give, without the expectation of anything back, comes back to you, and more!
So now I come back to you…
I share this in the hopes that you see something about you.
Where do your behaviours keep you small?
Where are you not really looking at the truth and instead, believing the innocently acquired stories of the mind?
Where could you give more without requiring anything back?
